VNMI and PUM join forces
Zoetermeer, Monday, February 3, 2020 - VNMI and PUM Netherlands senior experts (PUM) have entered into a partnership to strengthen each other in the field of corporate social responsibility, sustainable development and knowledge sharing.
Through its network, VNMI will help PUM to find experts for their advisory projects in developing countries and emerging markets. These experts share their knowledge with local entrepreneurs in small and medium-sized businesses. VNMI also supports the work of PUM by sharing knowledge and network and, where possible, collaboration in the chain. This way, PUM and VNMI bring supply and demand together.
Dick Ernste, CEO of PUM: “PUM allows companies to grow in a sustainable way by sharing knowledge. Together with VNMI we want to expand our group of metal experts. We are always looking for experienced experts with knowledge of technology and entrepreneurship. Thanks to their efforts, we can support even more companies in the countries in which we are active.”
“Through the collaboration with PUM, the Dutch metallurgical industry is working further on IMVO (international corporate social responsibility). Earlier in 2019 we launched our VNMI IMVO toolkit, which allows entrepreneurs to get started with IMVO. In addition, at our initiative last year, the IMVO metal chain covenant was signed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate, together with various NGOs and trade unions. With PUM we are now able to help people on the spot with our greatest quality: knowledge of metal! This is a nice addition to our earlier IMVO activities", says Hans van den Berg, chairman of VNMI.
VNMI is the trade association of Dutch producers of raw metals and metal alloys and semi-finished products. VNMI represents more than 80% of the metallurgical industry established in the Netherlands. The companies in the metallurgical industry represent approximately 50,000 full-time jobs (direct / indirect) in the Netherlands and an annual export value of 6 billion euros.
PUM is a volunteer organisation that focuses on the sustainable development of small and medium-sized enterprises in 38 developing countries. Since 1978, PUM has supported more than 45,000 organizations. PUM cooperates with a pool of approximately 1700 experts who share their knowledge one-on-one, through short-term and repetitive advice missions in the workplace.
