Oribags, a Ugandan business in Kampala producing paper boxes and bags, is successfully run by entrepreneur Rusia Orikiriza. With high ambitions, she called on PUM for help in setting up a new fashion and clothing line.
Uganda launched the Skilling Youth for Employment in Agribusiness (SKY) project with a view to combating youth unemployment. Businesses and the education sector there are cooperating to give young farmers practical training.
Namakau was hailed as the entrepreneur of the year 2015 in Zambia. She has her own building company. Additionally, she founded an organisation that attracted 500 female members, mainly poor women in the rural areas.
The request was clear. Identify the problems in two fish farms, and attempt to offer solutions. After inspecting the ponds in Pakistan, it did not take long for PUM expert Arie de Bondt to identify the problem.
PUM brought together expert Ton van Vliet and entrepreneur Prakash Panta. The Nepalese flower grower was keen to acquire technical knowledge, to improve production techniques and increase the quality of his cut flowers.
PUM and SNV have since 2013 bundled their knowledge and experience in Kenya as part of the Kenya Market-led Dairy Programme (KMDP). Purpose of this partnership is to raise the standard of the Kenyan dairy industry.
