Our deepest sympathies go out to Sri Lanka
With this message, we at PUM would like to express our sincere condolences to everyone who was wronged by the terrible terrorist attacks on Easter in Sri Lanka. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and friends, and the people of Sri Lanka.
None of our PUM experts were present in Sri Lanka at the time of the attacks. We are also fortunate that all our representatives who live permanently in Sri Lanka are safe. We specifically want to support them and wish them strength during this difficult situation.
For the time being, as always, we follow the travel advice from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and all planned advisory missions to Sri Lanka will continue as usual. At the moment, color code yellow applies to Sri Lanka, which means that people can travel to the country, but alertness is required.
Most current travel advice from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs can be found here.
* Update 26 April 2019: The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has updated their travel advice. As of 25 April 2019, code orange applies, meaning that it is adviced to travel only when absolutely nessecary. All PUM advisory missions have been ceased until the situation improves.
