Corporate Volunteering in Bangladesh

One of PUM’s ambitions is to intensify the cooperation with Dutch companies by sending their employees on advisory missions: so called Corporate Volunteering. Achmea, one of the largest health insurance companies in the Netherlands, was very interested in this cooperation.  In November, a first joint advisory mission took place in Bangladesh.

This advisory mission involved a medical PUM expert and a financial Achmea expert. On the outskirts of Dhaka in Bangladesh PMK Hospital had filed a request for advice. The area where the hospital is located is in the heart of the garment industry of Bangladesh. The poverty is enormous.

On the request of the PMK Hospital, the two experts investigated how the hospital could grow in a sustainable way and what expertise is needed. The experts guided a SWOT analysis for the board and made recommendations on the possibility for PUM to further support the hospital in the next 3-5 years.

All parties involved were very satisfied about the results. Especially the PMK Hospital who commented the following: “It was an excellent mission. The experts qualifications matched the needs of the project perfectly.”

Based on this positive experience, Achmea and PUM have the intention to intensify their cooperation. Want to learn more about the possibilities of Corporate Volunteering? Please visit our website.
